My Medium.

My Motivation

My Motivation

I will always be captivated by a sketched or painted picture. My appreciation for art and creativity extends to mediums not commonly connected to a physical picture. I love sharing  a delicious meal with a loved one, and if it's beautifully presented, even better! I love the artistry in flowers, a fall leaf. I find music in the sound the wind makes as it comes up the mountain and encircles my house. The sound of a loved one's laugh or a grandchild's first words is like art to me: it moves me, it makes me think,  it makes me grateful.

The mountains that I now live in touch me in ways that the ocean which I grew up alongside did. They are a miraculous work of art to me. Through them, walking among them, I have found inspiration and encouragement and peace, and a profound desire to re-create through photography, painting, and the written word. Art is said to imitate life. But in these mountains, life imitates art. So often, I am looking at a painting, and I have to remind myself that it's real.

My Message.

My Message.

When we were little tiny tots, we drew pictures of zebras and angels and monkeys even though we had never crossed paths with one. We laughed long before we understood work. It was in our very nature to imagine, and to create, to have joy. God himself, The Creator, allows us to find ourselves and escape ourselves at the same time. Through Art.

My Message.

I long to show you that God is not JUST love. You can also find him in nature, in music, in friendship, even in food!  He created such resplendence as one way of seeking you out and drawing you closer to him. He didn't have to make the world as radiantly artistic as He did! He created it that way because He Loves You. And He longs to give you a full and abundant life.
